*Our apologies for not being able to post current photos of the Denver cattle as planned, due to inclement winter weather.

2009 SOUTH DAKOTA STATE FAIR HONORS

Congratulations to Bushy Park Farm, Mitchell, SD, exhibitor of the Grand Champion Chianina Bull at the South Dakota State Fair.  He then competed against all other breed champion bulls, being selected as the Supreme Champion Bull.

BFW Letters From Home 2CA was originally exhibited and sold at the ACA Peak of Performance and Style Show/Sale by us at the National Western (Denver) in January.  He is known at Bushy Park as BFW Mile High 2CA

2009 DENVER

MITTEN MAN SIRES A DENVER BREED CHAMPION…In addition to this bull’s attractive phenotype, Repair Man topped all “Peak of Performance and Style” Chi bulls for REA at Denver with a 17.92 cm.  This is the second consecutive year our Mitten Man sired bull consignment possessed this distinction.

2009 High Selling ACA Peak of Performance and Style Chianina Bull
BFW Mile High 2CA (Known at Denver as BFW Letters From Home)
Second Generation Chiangus
Sire: WYR Impulse   Dam: Grissley Mitten /Angus

Without question, Mile High made an impression with Chiangus enthusiasts at Denver.  Bidding was aggressive by prominent programs, with Bushy Park Farm, Mitchell, SD acquiring this high selling ACA Peak bull.

Statistically, Mile High weighed in with having the heaviest WDA with 4.07#. His registration number is ACA: 338159.

Mile High is a full sib to our 2003 Grand Champion Pen of Three Chi Bulls at Denver, 2002 Show Calf Cruise Supreme Champion Pen of Three Heifers, former herd sire “Check Please”, and several cows in our herd. His full sister raised our Denver champion, Repair Man.

GEF Survivor 822U
(Known at Denver as GEF Storm Trooper)
AMAA Cattlemen’s Choice Sale Bull Consignment
by Geffert Cattle Company, La Valle, Wisc.
¾ Maine-Anjou
Sire: BK Lifeline 258J Dam: GEF Naughty Business

NEW TO OUR PROGRAM…it’s been a good number of years since we’ve made a bull purchase at Denver. Survivor naturally serviced cows here at the farm this spring/summer and is now at North American Breeders, VA, for semen collection.

Owned jointly with Wagonhammer Ranches, Albion, Nebr., and Select Sires, Plain City, Ohio.

Shea Geffert’s sale catalog comments read: “Possibly the best calf ever raised by this dam, another maternal sibling to Dirty Harry sired by Lifeline. This bull, as his name indicates, had a small fight with the Wisconsin winter of 2008 and lost part of his tail and tips of his ears. Never the less, he might be the most powerful bull calf of our Denver string. His birth weight is low at 75 lbs. He may also be a candidate for use on heifers. He has the most mass and power carried in a bull that I have not seen in a long time. He is moderate in his frame, extremely thick in his muscle pattern, very soft in his overall make up and with great hair. All of this and yet he can still get out and move extremely well. Other than the small run in with old man winter, this bull may be one of the best I have come across in quite some time.”
